2016 River City Arts Fest
July 22nd -24th saw the staging of Campbell River's fifth annual arts festival. This year the event was expanded to include a three day festival gallery at the Community Centre as well as the customary Saturday street market.
Downtown Shoppers Row was closed to traffic and visitors were able to stroll around the variety of artistic presentations, with live music in Spirit Square and street performers making it a spectacular event.
Once again the event relies heavily on the volunteers and sponsors for its success, without them the festival couldn't take place.
Our biggest thanks go to the countless volunteers who gave their time, energy and commitment to making sure that the festival was built, ran smoothly and was dismantled over the three days. It is impossible to name each individual but you know who you are and please know that your efforts were greatly appreciated.
To our sponsors we say thank you for the financial support that enabled us to provide the structure, the performing artists and so much more.
And, of course, we mustn't forget the contributing artists and artisans who provided all the visual delights through the wide range of artistic endeavors that confirms the terrific talent there is in the area.
Finally our thanks to the youngsters who took on the challenge to name and to colour the festival fairy (though some described it to be more like a troll than a fairy!). The winners were Kristin Campbell (age 10) for the colouring competition and Stella Nadler (age 6) who named the fairy “Fairy Rainbow”.
We hope that everyone who came enjoyed the event and we hope to see you again next year when we will do it all again.
